Mozart's Twelve Variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman", K. 265, takes the French nursery melody — the one English speakers sing as "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" — and puts it through twelve increasingly elaborate treatments: running semiquavers, hands crossing, the tune moved into the left hand, a minor-key variation, a slow adagio and a final flourish.
