What you get
The converter turns your MIDI into the same letter-note format used across DoReDog: each note becomes the letter of the key you press, lowercase for white keys and UPPERCASE for the black keys (sharps). The number in front of each line is the octave, the dashes between letters are time, and lines tagged RH and LH are the right and left hand.
It's the exact pipeline behind the 2,400+ pieces in our library — the same grid detection, hand assignment and note-hold cleanup — just running locally on your file instead of ours.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The conversion is pure JavaScript running in your browser. Your MIDI is read from disk into memory and never sent to a server — you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it will still work.
Tips for a clean conversion
- Use a piano MIDI. Files written for two staves (right hand / left hand) convert best.
- Multi-instrument files get flattened. A full orchestral MIDI will merge every part onto the keyboard, which is rarely playable — export just the piano part first.
- If the hands look wrong, switch the hand-splitting mode above and convert again.
